Writers Read

I've been "guest blogging" this week, so my juices runneth dry.  I thought I would post a link here to a post that went up today, on a cool site that asks authors what books they've enjoyed reading lately.

I am a little creeped out by your book choices, haha. For the ff. reasons:

1 - Mary Karr's The Liars' Club is one of my favorite books ever, and I've been pinching pennies to get her latest memoir.

2 - I received The Gin Closet for review a few months ago. Was so struck by the language--love that you mentioned that Jamison writes deftly even at the sentence level.

3 - And After the Workshop is now one of my favorite novels. I read and reviewed it, and was so glad that it fell to my lap. Love that book so much, and I remember one comment on the review post saying that it was such "an engaging call to action." Which is, haha, probably a polite way of saying that I was getting really annoying with how much I wanted to push the book into everyone's hands. :)

Take care, now.

Sasha,

I am still pretty inept at figuring out when I have comments on this blog, so I just found this one from you. May I also say that you have become one of my favorite book writers? I say book writer rather than critic, because your approach is more unique than that of the typical critic. I love what you write about books, your marginalia approach, and always trust your recommendations.
